 Keeping a Holy Lent

As we come to the month of March we come almost immediately into the Season of Lent. Tuesday, 1 March, is what is commonly referred to as “Fat Tuesday,” a day usually associated with “enjoying” and indulging ourselves in perhaps the thing or things we’re going to give up for Lent. On Ash Wednesday (2 March), we will gather for worship at 7:00 p.m. On the following Wednesday (9 March at 7:00), St. Mark’s will host the first Community Lenten Service (Father John Baver, Senior Parochial Vicar of All Saints Roman Catholic Parish, will be preaching). The rest of the Wednesday Lenten Services (all at 7:00 p.m.) will be hosted by other churches in Butler:

• 16 March – St. Paul Catholic Church (Fr. David Hicks preaching)
• 23 March – St. Michael Catholic Church (Rev. David Janz preaching)
• 30 March – First United Methodist Church (I will be preaching)
• 6 April – St. Peter’s Anglican Church (Fr. Dan Waruszewski preaching)
