Helping Hands

Being able to share with and sustain the members of a family who have lost loved ones is
important to us. This loving ministry was established in the 1970s and continues to this day. When
someone has died, either the family calls the church office or the funeral home makes notice to the Pastor.
This call sets in motion the many ways to support the family.

Immediately, the family name is placed on our prayer chain in order to hold them up to the Lord during this difficult time.

The family is contacted soon after the death has occurred. They are informed of the dinner and asked to figure out approximately how many people they will expect at the meal. We have served as few as twenty persons and as large a group as one-hundred fifty. We always want to have enough food for everyone.

We have three teams of people who take turns preparing a meal following the funerals. Each team has approximately twenty dedicated members. All the food is home made. Many of the women keep the ingredients for "their" part of the meal on hand so they will never be caught short. The team members set up and decorate the tables and do the actual serving of the guests. We are handicapped accessible so everyone can attend.

The meal is served in the Fellowship Hall of the Sunday school building. We look at this time together after the services as being an important part of warm comforting fellowship for the family. This companionship is meaningful for our church family too. We consider it an honor to serve in this important way
